Growing up in a sleepy Northern plains USA town with no cable TV, no microwave & no internet, this was the highlight of the week for an 11-yr old kid to stay up & watch Cab Calloway, ELO, or Sweet play on the Don Kirshner's Midnight Special. Then the national anthem was played and the 3 channels our town had cut off until 6am the next morning; kids today have it made.
